Here are some commonly asked questions about Parent Albums.
Q: What is a parent album?
A: A parent album is a replica of your Flush Mount Album, Fine Art Album, Layflat Photo Book or Slim Photo Book but in a smaller size. For example, a newlywed couple ordered an 11x14 album of their wedding, then they ordered a parent album to share their special day with their parents or family. However, a parent album can be ordered for any occasion. It is not limited only to weddings.
Q: What size will my parent album be? How much will it cost?
A: A parent album will have the exact same ratio, paper, and number of pages as the original album. Please use the Parent Album widget on the Parent Album page to check your size and cost. Using the drop down menu, please select your original album details on the left such as cover type, album size, number of pages, paper type, etc. The right hand side will display the corresponding parent album cost.
Q: I have selected Thick paper in my original album. But why is the parent album showing Standard?
A: Parent albums are only offered with Standard page thickness due to the album's smaller size.
Q: I have a Crystal/Acrylic/Acrylic Cameo/Wood/Metal/Photo/Duotone/Stitched cover in my original album, but why is the parent album showing Genuine Leather/Leatherette/Linen/Suede & Velvet as the cover?
A: We do not offer Crystal/Acrylic/Acrylic Cameo/Wood/Metal/Photo/Duotone/Stitched cover albums in smaller sizes. By default, if a parent album is ordered with one of these covers, it will automatically be made with the matching Genuine Leather/Leatherette/Linen/Suede & Velvet back cover of the original album. For example, if the back cover of your Crystal album is the black leatherette, your parent album cover will be black leatherette. If white was selected, the parent album will have a white leatherette cover.
Q: I have an embellishment such as Foil & Debossing on the front cover album, will my parent album have embellishment on the cover too?
A: No, the embellishment will not be completed on the parent album.
Q: I have a cameo window on the front cover of my album, will my parent album have a cameo window on the cover too?
A: No, a cameo window will not be added to the front cover of the parent album.
Q: I have gilding or painted edge on my album, will my parent album have gilding or painted edge on it too?
A: No, gilding or painted edge will not be completed to the parent album.
Q: Do I need to re-upload all my photos and re-create the album to order a parent album?
A: No, you do not need to re-upload photos or re-create the album. You simply need to click “Add Parent Album” at checkout or click ‘Order Parent Album’ on your My Projects page to view or edit the cover and add it to your shopping cart. When you click the “Add Parent Album” button, it will take you to the editing page to review the cover. The inner pages will be the same as the original book but in a smaller size. You are not allowed to make changes. If you select the Suede & Velvet Cover, Linen Cover, Leatherette Cover, and Genuine Leather Cover parent albums, no additional edits can be made to the cover. However, you can edit the cover if you select the Paper Cover, Hard Cover, Silk or Canvas covers.
Q: Can I order a parent album for my Press Photo Book?
A: Parent albums are only available for the Flush Mount Album, Fine Art Album, Layflat Photo
Book, and Slim Photo Book at sizes 8x8 and up.
Q: Can I edit my parent album before submitting the order?
A: A parent album is an exact replica of your original album. No changes are allowed to be made on parent albums with a Suede & Velvet Cover, Linen Cover, Leatherette Cover, Genuine Leather Cover, or Flush Cover. You can make edits to the image on the front cover if you have selected the Paper Cover, Hard Cover, Silk Cover or Canvas Cover but you will need to clone the book before adding it to the cart.
Any changes made to the parent book will not affect the original photo book.
If you want to change the parent album size, layouts or photos, we recommend
making a clone of your original album and then saving it as a new project.
Q: Do I have to order the parent album at the same time? can I order one later?
A: You do not have to order a parent album at the same time as your original album. You can place your order for one later on in the future.
