If your monitor is calibrated (Please see our article on monitor calibration here) and you would like to “Soft Proof” our products in order to simulate what your images would look like when printed on an individual product, we offer ICC Profiles for our Photobooks, Fine Art, Photo and Canvas Prints. Our ICC profiles can be installed on either a Mac or PC.
You can find our ICC profiles in a zip file here. Once you have downloaded our ICC profiles, please follow the instructions below for installation:
In this Article, you'll find:
- Installing Zno’s ICC Profile on a PC
- Installing Zno’s ICC Profile on a Mac
- Setting up Zno's ICC profiles in Photoshop
- Using Zno's ICC profiles in Photoshop
Please note: ICC profiles are only for reviewing your image files. DO NOT embed the ICC profile into your image file before saving.
Installing Zno’s ICC Profile on a PC
- Right-click the ICC profile of the product you would like to Soft Proof.
- In the popup box click “Install Profile.”
- You will not get a notification that the profile is installed. This is normal.
Installing Zno’s ICC Profile on a Mac
- Open the folder on your desktop, then move the ICC profile of the product you would like to view to the following location to: Macintosh HD\Library\ColorSync\Profiles
Setting up Zno's ICC profiles in Photoshop
Once the ICC profile or profiles you would like to use are installed on your system you will then need to install the ICC profile for the product you would like to Soft Proof individually into your photo editing program. Below are installation instructions for Adobe Photoshop:
Adobe Photoshop (If Photoshop was open when you installed the profile on your system, please close the program and reopen it.)
- Go to View>Proof Setup>Custom
- In the drop-down menu next to Device to Simulate, select the Zno profile you would like to Soft Proof. In this example, we’re using the Zno_lustre_print_paper ICC Profile.
- Please make sure that you select all the same options as those listed below:
- Do not check Simulate Paper Color.
- Do not check Simulate Black Ink.
- Make sure Preview and Black Point Compensation are checked.
- Click Save.
- When you click “Save,” there will be a pop up box prompting you to name the new Proof Setup.
- We recommend the file based on the type of product you are proofing. For example, “Zno Lustre Print Paper.”
-
Click Save and close the popup windows.
Using Zno's ICC profiles in Photoshop
Once you have installed and saved Zno's ICC profiles in Photoshop, please open the image you would like to view and follow these instructions:
- Go to View>Proof Setup and toggle the ICC profile you would like to soft proof. For example, “Zno Luster print paper.”
- Then go to View>Proof Colors
- Checking this will give you a mock up of what this image will look like when printed on that product. You can then make further color adjustments to your image – if you would like.
- Then go to View and click Gamut Warning. Please make sure Proof Colors is still selected.
- If any part of your image is a color our printers are incapable of printing, they will appear on the screen as a “computer gray.” See example below:
- Typically very bright reds, magentas, purples, yellows and oranges are out of gamut.
- When the colors of your image have been edited to your liking, please click View and UNCHECK Proof Colors and Gamut Warning.
- Save your file in sRGB.
