Connecting to Stripe
When you subscribe to Zno Gallery and use the Zno Estore function in order to sell products to clients, you are acting as the Tax Entity for your orders. As a result of being the Tax Entity, you are responsible for everything relating to sales tax and payments.
Stripe is one of several third party payment providers that allows you to collect payments for which you’ll later need to pay sales tax on. Stripe is a secure and easy way to accept credit card payments from clients on the web. By connecting Stripe, you will be able to accept payments directly from clients on your Zno Estore.
Please note that you must already have a Stripe account to connect to Zno Estore.
How payment with Zno Estore work
In Zno Estore, a payment transaction is divided into two mechanisms that are independent of each other. These mechanisms are “Cash-In” and “Cash-Out”.
Cash-In
“Cash-In” refers to the mechanism of a Client paying a Photographer.
Cash-In Example: Jane is a wedding bride (the Client) who has bought prints from Bob (the Photographer) through Bob’s Zno Estore. In this case Bob has sold an 8x10 print that originally cost $4.50 (from a Lab) for $9.00 (to Jane).
In the above Cash-In example, Bob (the Photographer) will immediately receive $9.00 into his Stripe account that is connected to his Zno Estore. Zno Cloud and the Lab that Bob bought the 8x10 print from does not have access to view or refund this $9.00 payment. Bob is the sole decision-maker when it comes to refunding the $9.00 order to Jane (the client) and any refund must be done through Bob’s Stripe account.
Cash-Out
“Cash-Out” refers to the mechanism of a Photographer paying a Lab.
Cash-Out Example: Jane is a wedding bride (the Client) who has bought prints from Bob (the Photographer) through Bob’s Zno Estore. In this case Bob has sold an 8x10 print that originally cost $4.50 (from a Lab) for $9.00 (to Jane).
In the above Cash-Out example, Bob (the Photographer) will immediately be charged $4.50 (from a Lab). Bob will be charged the $4.50 on his Credit Card or PayPal account that is associated with Zno Cloud. The payment of $4.50 to the Lab is not extracted from the $9.00 payment that Bob received from Jane. So what Jane pays to Bob ($9.00) and what Bob pays to the Lab (4.50) are independent of each other. Cash-Out is effectively no different than if Bob had directly bought the 8x10 print from the Lab itself.
